Jason Momoa is a native of Hawaii in the USA. His initial birth name is Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa. He was born on the 1st of August, 1979. Jason is a filmmaker, American actor, and environmental activist. His father, Joseph Momoa (a painter), and his mother, Coni Lemke (a photographer), divorced six months after Jason's birth. His mother moved to Iowa after her separation from his father. Jason finished his elementary and high school in Iowa. The actor had so much interest in biology, that this made him enroll for biology classes at a community college in Des Moines. After a while, he moved to Colorado where he worked as a waiter for a while.
Jason later moved back to Hawaii to meet his father. During his stay in Hawaii, he signed up for the University of Hawaii's marine biology program. At 19, he started modeling after he was encouraged by Takeo Kobayashi (a Japanese-born fashion designer). He later left University to focus on his modeling career. Not long after this, he landed his first acting gig, Baywatch: Hawaii (a tv-series), where he acted as a young lifeguard. This role encouraged Jason's early acting career.
In 2001, Baywatch: Hawaii ended. Consequently, Jason made television appearances, acting in supporting roles. Some of his notable appearances include when he acted as "Frankie Seau" in a drama, North Shore (2004- 2005) and when he acted as "Ronan Dex" in Stargate: Atlantis (a sci-fi series) from (2005-2009). Jason accepted his first motion picture role in 2004, where he played a small part in the Johnson family vacation comedy movie. In 2010, he landed his first leading role in Conan the barbarian, where he acted as the title character. Although Jason Momoa made appearances in different movies, he didn't catch the attention of Hollywood directors until he featured in the blockbuster television series, Game of Thrones (2011-2019). In 2014, Jason was cast in the role of Aquaman by an American director (Zack Snyder). The blockbuster movie Aquaman was later released in 2018.
Jason Momoa later played a role in Dune (2012), an adaptation of Frank Herbert's Novel. Jason played the role of "Duncan Idaho" in "Dune" as directed by Denis Villeneuve (a Canadian film director). He also played several roles in television series; for instance, Jason acted as Philip Kopas (an ex-convict) in the Red Road (2014-2015). He also played the role of Declan Harp( the Fur-trading outlaw) in Frontier from 2016 to 2018.
Jason Momoa got married to Lisa Bonet. Lisa had a daughter, Zoe Kravitz, from her previous marriage. Jason saw Lisa for the first time when she appeared on "The Cosby Show" and immediately fell in love with her. The actor later met Lisa in a Jazz club in 2005, and they eventually became a couple. Two years later, their first child, Lola Lolani, was born. They also gave birth to a boy (Nakoa-wolf). Lisa and Jason secretly got married in 2017. Their marriage lasted for five years before the shocking announcement of their breakup.
Aside from acting, Jason is enthusiastic about the condition of the environment. He is the founder of "Mananalu" – a water packaging company that clamors for the removal of plastic pollutants from the ocean). He has also continued to raise funds for sustainable coastlines Hawaii (a group that promotes environmental awareness through outreaches and other related programs).
