Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev was born on 9th January 1989 to computer technician Kamen Dobrev and artist Michaela Dobreva. Her family migrated to Canada when she was just two years old, hence she grew up in Scarborough, Toronto.

Nina Dobrev; whose real name is Nikolina Konstantinova Dobreva, is an internationally acclaimed model and actress. She is best recognized for her performances in "The Vampire Diaries" and "Degrassi: The Next Generation." Dobrev always had a passion for the performing arts and was inclined toward the entertainment industry.

She is multilingual, an avid reader, and also an athlete. She came into the spotlight while narrating the character of "Mia Jones" in the TV series "Degrassi: The Next Generation."

Apart from being an adventure sports enthusiast, she also fancies swimming, soccer, rock climbing, volleyball, wake surfing, skiing, and horse riding. She has also represented Canada in aesthetic gymnastics.

She studied at 'Vradenburg Junior Public School' and 'J. B. Sr. She regularly practiced ballet, jazz, and rhythmic gymnastics at school. After junior school, she attended Scarborough's Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts.

She opted for sociology as her major at Toronto's Ryerson University. However, in 2008 she left her education to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Nina Dobrev’s career started as a model. Her first big break came in 2006 when she landed the lead role in CTV's 'Degrassi: The Next Generation,' which was an instant hit and ran for 8 seasons.

In her early years, she starred in TV movies like 'Never Cry Werewolf,' 'The American Mall,' and 2009's 'Degrassi Goes Hollywood'. She also appeared in 'Eleventh Hour' and 'Merry Madagascar'. In 2009, she did the sensual thriller 'Chloe' 2011: 'The Roommate' and 'Arena'.

Nina Dobrev was cast as 'Candace Kelmeckis' in the critically acclaimed 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' in April 2011. She appeared on 'Family Guy' and 'The Super Hero Squad Show' in the same year. Her next film was 2014's 'Let's Be Cops' for 20th Century Fox, that also starred Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr.

By 2015 she had established herself as a fine actor, who is capable of playing all sorts of roles effortlessly. She played Vicki Summers in 'The Final Girls,' which earned positive reviews. She then played flight attendant 'Izzy' in 'Arrivals' with Asa Butterfield and Maisie Williams. In 2015, she co-starred with Domhnall Gleeson and Christina Applegate in 'Crash Pad.'

In 2012, she won 'Favorite TV Drama Actress' and 'Favorite On-Screen Chemistry' (with Ian Somerhalder) in 2014. She and Ian Somerhalder also won "Favourite TV Duo" the same year.  She also received an award of 'Best Ensemble Performance' for 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' in 2012.

The year 2022 saw the release of her most recent film, Redeeming Love. Nina Dobrev dated Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore in 'The Vampire Diaries.' However, the couple parted ways in 2013.

She then dated 'DWTS' dancer Derek Hough, before breaking up in 2013.
