В 1-м сезоне сериала «Усио и Тора» в центре событий оказывается молодой человек по имени Усио Ооцуки, который живет в церкви вместе с немолодым отцом и принадлежит к древнему роду, начавшемуся от монаха, который поработил монстра и построил храм. Усио скептически относится к легендам про ёкаев и чудовищ, отмахивается от историй отца, считая это глупыми фантазиями. Однако Усио не в силах справиться с удивлением, когда находит подвал, где находится тот самый запечатанный монстр. Усио ведется на его манипуляции и выпускает демона на свободу. С помощью копья зверя Усио получает суперсилу, поэтому ёкай не может причинить вред Усио.
