The TV series "Ahead of the Day" is a melodrama about three friends who become mothers on the same day. Nina and Lena are wealthy wives of the "new Russians," while Mila is a maid in Nina's house. At first, all three are excited about their "synchronized" pregnancies, but it soon turns out that Nina's husband is not only the father of her child but also Mila's. The women gather in a cafe to sort out their relationships, but at that very moment, the place is attacked by bandits. After experiencing such a traumatic event, all three friends start giving birth simultaneously and form a lifelong bond.
