The TV series "Futile Hopes" is a gripping melodrama about a failed marriage. Vera and Vadim are young and in love, preparing to officially become a family. But on the eve of their wedding, Vera discovers that her beloved is cheating on her. She breaks off the engagement and, seeking revenge, accepts the advances of his boss, the wealthy and caring Yuri. However, just as her life begins to improve, Vera is dealt another cruel blow. After marrying Yuri, someone murders her parents. Suspicion falls on the enraged Vadim.
