The series "Optimists" is a domestic suspenseful drama about the lives of Soviet diplomats in the 1960s. Several representatives of Moscow's "golden youth" graduate from the Institute of International Relations and become members of a special Information and Analytical Group under the Soviet government. Their goal is to find unconventional approaches to presenting the country abroad. All the young people are well-educated, talented, and knowledgeable about life in other countries. The only thing left is to outplay their American and British colleagues.
