The TV series "The Last Article of a Journalist" is a crime detective story set during the years of perestroika and glasnost in the USSR. A young man named Oleg Verkhovtsev writes "hot" reports for a major newspaper. One day, he decides to infiltrate a previously inaccessible place for journalists - the "death row" cell in a prison. He makes a deal with his influential friend, who agrees to falsely accuse him and then help him escape. However, someone kills his friend, and Oleg's life sentence becomes all too real.
