The series "Horizon Zero Dawn" is an adaptation of the eponymous video game. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by terrifying mechanical animal robots. The surviving humans, after an unknown global catastrophe, seek refuge in fortified settlements, relying on hunting and gathering for sustenance. The plot revolves around a young huntress named Aloy, who is banished from her native tribe. When she decides to return and undergo the Initiation, the tribe is unexpectedly attacked by cultists.
