The Baryshev family is traveling to Serzhi's homeland - Gladievsk. Leonid Sergeevich, Serzhi's father, is celebrating his anniversary. In his hometown, Serzhi meets with Yura Gradov, whom he was friends with in his youth. With the help of Leonid Sergeevich, his mentor, Serzhi actively becomes interested in politics and wants to run for mayor of Gladievsk. As always, trouble unexpectedly befalls the heroes: Serzhi's father dies from a heart attack. Serzhi decides to stay in Gladievsk for a while and support his friend Yura.
