The story revolves around three knights. Voivode Belogor, deeply affected by the death of his comrades, leaves his service and settles in a fortress on the outskirts of the Novgorod Republic. He is honest, principled, and sensitive, with a keen understanding of people and the ability to find the right words for everyone, from commoners to nobility. Young knight Agafon, a bold village boy, constantly causes problems for his older brothers-in-arms. Mysterious Varun loves nature, understands the language of animals, but always appears detached.
