"Die Kaiserin" is an Austro-German historical series about the rise and reign of the legendary Elisabeth of Bavaria, also known as Princess Sissi. A young and daring girl captivates the Emperor of Austria, Franz, at first sight, even though he was originally planning to marry her older sister. Now, the ruler's wife must defend her rights against her power-hungry mother-in-law and her husband's brother, who is eager to seize the throne and her heart.
