Experts in the field of biology claim that fathers do not feel a natural instinct similar to mothers. However, the twists and turns of human destinies prove otherwise. Andrei Perevalov's life is quite predictable: he works in a utility service and is about to become a father. One day, his wife goes to visit a friend and gets into a car accident. A midwife at the local maternity hospital performs a difficult operation and saves the baby, but the woman dies. Moreover, everyone believes that both parents have died, as the driver is mistaken for Vera's spouse.
