The series is based on the eponymous work by writer Catherine Lacey. The events take place in the near future. A young woman, devastated by grief, decides to participate in a mysterious love experiment. The main heroine finds herself in a secluded place with other women. As they interact with each other, the participants of the experiment soon begin to question what is really happening and why they have all been assigned to meet with the same enigmatic man.
