"Karen Pirie" is a detective series about a female officer in Scotland's Historical Investigations Department. Police officer Karen Pirie receives a promotion, and her new duty is to reopen long-closed cases when new circumstances and evidence arise. Her attention is immediately drawn to the investigation of a buffet waitress's death in 1955. All the evidence pointed to a group of intoxicated students, but the boys managed to clear their names and avoid prison. Now, Karen is determined to find the true killer.
