The series "Devushka iz proshlogo" is a Russian melodrama about two sisters who were orphaned at a young age. The older sister, Varya, took on the responsibility of caring for 14-year-old Alena. Varya now works as an obstetrician-gynecologist in a prestigious perinatal center. However, she herself cannot have children, so she and her husband Sergey try to adopt a baby. Meanwhile, Alena receives a job offer from a major construction company. But the lives of both women are turned upside down when they become involved in a horrific car accident.
