The plot revolves around Maria Kuznetsova, who works as a paramedic in an small Russian town. The locals know they can always rely on Maria's help. She doesn't have a family, but she is dating Vyacheslav, an ambulance driver. One day, he asks Maria to lend him the ambulance - his friend needs to transport some belongings. Maria understands that she is breaking the rules, but reluctantly agrees. Some time later, she urgently needs the ambulance herself - the man has a heart attack.
