The Netflix series "When They See Us" tells the story of real events that took place in America in 1989. Five teenagers from Manhattan were accused of rape. They were found guilty by the court and received prison sentences. The longest sentence was 13 years. However, in 2002, everything changed after the real perpetrator confessed and the evidence indicated that his statements were true. By this time, the characters had already been released and were attempting to adapt to life outside of prison. They were compensated for the judicial error.
