The central character is Victoria, the wife of a high-ranking official. She follows her husband to the small Siberian town of Tashtagol, where he plans to become the mayor. As a result of a family conflict and several comical coincidences, she loses her memory completely, forgetting who she is and where she comes from. Vika finds herself in the home of a recluse named Misha, who takes care of three children. The children, craving maternal affection, decide to take advantage of the situation and claim that Vika is their mother.
