Simple operative Sanya Balabin is promoted to the rank of major, but his family problems remain unresolved. His relationship with Lena is once again on the brink, and the hero starts an affair on the side. Meanwhile, a cold-blooded killer appears in the city, acting boldly and cruelly, always staying one step ahead of Sanya.
