1878. At the end of the Russo-Turkish War, Prince Alexei Raevsky, who is fighting on the Balkan front as a major, disappears without a trace. His young wife, Princess Sofia, does not believe in the prince's death. She undergoes accelerated nursing courses and goes to the front to search for him.
