Seventeen-year-old Masha dreams of dancing - she dreams of leaving the village, going to college, performing on the big stage and winning a prestigious competition. But after her mother's death, Aunt Lyuba and her husband, who have their own plans for her, become her guardians. Two months before Masha comes of age, the aunt ends up in a hospital bed, and the "uncle" receives full power over the girl.
