Soul Eater (2008 - 2009)

The Japanese fantasy anime series "Soul Eater" tells the story of several student superheroes. Diligent Maka fights alongside Soul, who later transforms into Death Scythe. Black Star is allied with a girl named Tsubaki, who becomes a ninja weapon as the plot unfolds. Like in any academy, there is a sense of generational continuity - for example, Maka is the daughter of the current Death Scythe. However, blood ties mean nothing. Friends-turned-rivals battle each other and eliminate evil spirits.
