Poslednee slovo" is a fictionalized documentary series that tells the story of the last months of the life and demise of the last Russian emperor and his family, as narrated by their assassins. The series consists of four dramatic episodes and one documentary episode. The plot of the initial episodes focuses on the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the last Russian emperor and his family in Ekaterinburg in 1918. The main character, Mikhail Mikhailovich Medvedev, the son of one of the executioners, is tasked by Khrushchev to find his father's old friends and record interviews with them. Medvedev also attempts to unravel the case by studying documents, letters, and photographs. He reconstructs the events of 1918 and pieces together the last months of Nicholas II, his family, and their entourage in Ekaterinburg. Additionally, he uncovers details about the execution and the attempts to conceal the bodies.
